UHPC is a locally led worker cooperative, registered with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives
(MoTIC) to deliver innovative solutions that increase access to quality health care through training of trainers
and stakeholders to adopt the cooperative health insurance model in Uganda.

There are two ways; As an individual or as an institution.
● A new member who expresses interest to join UHPC fills an application form, pays membership /
entrance fees. This is a one-off payment. Schedule of fees
i) Entry membership fee – Ugx 50,000 individual
Ugx 100,000 institutional
ii) Shares at a minimum of 10 shares @ category
Ugx 100,000 individual
Ugx 1,000,000 institutional

Yes, UHPC operates like other cooperatives. However, UHPC is a unique worker cooperative that is
advancing the cooperative health model through capacity building for other cooperatives,
implementing partners, organizations and businesses in cooperative health insurance management

UHPC builds the capacity of Saving and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCO), other
cooperatives and health care providers to manage and provide cooperative health insurance. Also
supports existing groups to form and register a health cooperative.

● Cooperative health insurance development work is UHPC’s core interest in advancing its goals,
vision and mission.
● UHPC builds the capacity of health cooperatives, SACCOs and other cooperatives to add health
insurance for their members.

● Yes, UHPC will continue to support and build capacity of health cooperatives.
● UHPC will train cooperatives, SACCOs and corporate bodies on how to include and manage the
product of cooperative health into their activities for better health outcomes at an affordable fee.
