Hello Welcome to UHPC a pathway to quality and affordable health care.

Welcome to the Uganda Health Partners Cooperative (UHPC), an innovative workers' cooperative locally led and dedicated to advancing cooperative health financing. We are thrilled to announce the transition of HealthPartners Uganda's work to UHPC, ensuring the continuation and expansion of efforts to improve health equity and outcomes in Uganda.

HealthPartners’ work has been instrumental in training trainers, collaborating with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives (MoTIC), Ministry of Health (MOH), medical bureaus, and other partners. This collaborative effort has established a network of locally-led organizations, developed tools for capacity building and management, and scaled up the health cooperative model. As a result, 64 healthcare providers across the country now offer a benefits package of agreed-upon services to cooperative members.

UHPC is registered with MoTIC to deliver sustainable healthcare access through the health cooperative model. We are committed to capacity building and supporting the adoption and implementation of cooperative health insurance by donors, cooperative development partners, and other stakeholders. Our aim is to reach over 500,000 cooperative members and their families by 2028, advocating for Universal Health Coverage that includes cooperative health insurance for the informal sector.

At UHPC, we envision resilient communities with equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare. Together, we can support the MOH in advancing the national health insurance scheme and achieving universal health coverage for all. Join us in championing, promoting, developing, and strengthening cooperatives to enhance healthcare access and outcomes in Uganda.
